About Maggie Parr
About
Maggie Parr has been writing, designing, and painting for over thirty years. She received her BA from Pomona College and MFA from Cal State Fullerton. Her first job was at Gemini Graphic Editions, where she worked as a printer with artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Claus Oldenberg. After that, Walt Disney Imagineering brought her on as a show designer for theme parks. Early projects included Toontown (California) and Animal Kingdom. Since then, she designed themed environments around the world; written and illustrated books; and painted portraits and murals for individuals and companies. Her passion is in visual storytelling: creating a visual vocabulary around a central narrative. Her specialties include concept design, painting (traditional and digital), characters (licensed and original), and themed environmental design. In addition, she maintains a studio practice with a long list of exhibitions; and she writes and illustrates graphic novels.
"What I enjoy most about the creative process is finding the core story that drives everything. It's like mining for gold. Once I find that, the details of the project unfold like a treasure map." --MP

Testimonials
"I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Maggie for over 20 years and she is one of these rare creative individuals who has left her mark as an amazing Visual Storyteller. Her visceral creative insight is innate and this is Maggie’s distinct signature––I look forward to our next collaboration."
"When my painting arrived, I was delighted and moved by how Maggie captured the love I have for my dogs. Her painting made me feel even more grateful to have their companionship, as well as her friendship. And when a couple of months later, one of my dogs passed away, I was so thankful to have that beautiful painting, the memory of that afternoon and the memory of the three of us, that would live on."
“I am the lucky owner of four works of art by Maggie Parr. Each piece is unique, detailed, intimate and soulful. I feel as though they were painted just for me! Her acrylics, hand drawings and digital art explore the contrasting fierceness and beauty of nature and the human experience. Her works encompass a broad emotional range including passion, serenity, rage, and humor. I am definitely a fan!”
“Maggie designed a mandala mural for the inside of my organic produce and specialty grocery store. Once I chose from her suggested design and color palette the work began. The process was exciting for us and our customers to watch as the blank wall was transformed into a cornucopia of fruits and vegetables. The level of detail is incredible, the grapes glisten, the apples dappled, and the peas are perfect inside their pods. The piece is a lasting source of delicious inspiration.”
