TEACHING

About

Maggie Parr distills all of her skills and techniques into a curriculum that conveys classical techniques with simplicity, clarity, and fun. She meets students where they are - whether they're beginners, self-taught, or seasoned artists seeking classical training. Lessons start with the basics: the story of light, shapes in perspective, value scales, the color wheel. Then we move into more complex exercises in rendering, using a combination of anatomy lessons and gestural techniques. Finally, the rules and tricks of indirect oil painting are covered, building upon earlier principles and moving forward with each student's particular style and preferences. Students are always amazed with what they produce by the end of the five weeks!

"All levels are welcome. No matter where you are in your artistic practice, I can help you improve your skills using classical techniques. I love seeing students' eyes light up when they learn something new. It's been my experience that being a good artist is only 20% talent; the rest is training and experience. I don't just teach tricks of the trade; I convey a way of seeing and a love of learning that will continue long after the student has finished my class." --MP
